Paediatric Camp January 2010
Haven members from the UK and well wishers from Russia attend the first of our medical camps for 2010
On the 31st of January 2010, a Paediatric Camp was held for 100 critically ill children. We were very fortunate to secure the volunteered services of a team of doctors from the R. N. Tagore Heart Research Centre in Kolkata. Together, Dr Amitava Chatterjee, Paediatrician, and Dr Mridul Agarwal, Cardiologist, provided excellent levels of care and the children were well looked after.
The ailments were varied and ranged from simple skin and dental problems to severe heart conditions. In total, 19 cases have been referred for further treatment and surgery. Haven/MBCF are in discussion with R. N. Tagore Hospital and local nursing homes in order to complete the necessary treatment over the next few months.
